Women In Trucking received over $30,000 in donationsย from various organizations during its 10th annual Salute to Women Behind the Wheel ceremony.
Majority of the donations were from Ryder System, Inc. which donated $25,000; coupled with UPS, which donated $5,000. An additional $2,443 was raised in donations from the attendees.
The event was held at the Mid-America Trucking Show and is designed to recognize and honour female drivers for their commitment to the trucking industry.
โThe annual Salute event shows that women can thrive and enjoy a career as a professional driver,โ President and CEO Ellen Voie said in a release.ย
โWhether they are industry veterans or newcomers, they are paving the way for women to participate and succeed in a male-dominated industry. We want them to know we see them, and they are valued.โ
