The firm recorded 144 cargo theft incidents during the months of April, May, and June with an average loss value of $178,273. This represents an 8 percent increase in volume and 28 percent increase in value when compared to the second quarter of 2017.

Building and industrial materials were the most-stolen in the quarter, accounting for 17 percent of the total, followed by electronics at 16 percent.

California recorded 29 percent of all thefts. Florida recorded 19 percent and Texas recorded 16 percent of total thefts.

The most prevalent location for large-scale cargo thefts continued to be unsecured parking, accounting for 75 percent of incidents. The low risk, but profitable, pilferage did jump significantly though, up 63 percent from Q1 2018.
