ย The FMCSAโs potential rulemaking to define which drivers are allowed to run under HOS exemptions for agricultural commodities has been approved by the White Houseโs Office of Management and Budget.
The advanced notice of proposed rulemaking wonโt divulge any specific reforms. Instead, itโs intended for the solicitation of comments from industry stakeholders about the definition of an agricultural commodity.
Currently, the FMCSA defines ag commodities as โany agricultural commodity, nonprocessed food, feed, fiber, or livestock,โ but that definition could change if the agency proceeds with the rulemaking process.
Once published in the Federal Register, the ANPRM will be open for public comments.
