Support for the Ontario Trucking Association’s call for mandatory entry level training for truck drivers continues to expand.
Marsh Canada, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management and the Freight Management Association of Canada (formerly the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association), the national voice of the country’s shippers, are the latest organizations to throw their support behind the initiative.
In a letter to OTA president, David Bradley, Scott Cober, National Transportation Practice Leader at Marsh, says “the mandatory entry-level training requirement offers a greater opportunity to introduce uniformity to industry-established training as well as elevate the profession to a skilled occupation in an industry with high employment demand.”
“Addressing the driver shortage is important to all supply chain partners,” says FMA’s president, Bob Ballantyne. “FMA supports OTA on this initiative.”
Marsh and FMA join the major truck insurance companies, The Guarantee, Northbridge, Old Republic and Zurich, along with the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario and the Fleet Safety Council (Toronto Chapter), in the growing coalition of support for mandatory entry level truck driver training.
