OPP make arrest in cinderblock thrower case

Ontario police have arrested a man they say threw cinderblocks into traffic from an overpass along Highway 401 this week.

The suspect, 32-year-old Everton Emmanuel James, was charged with three counts of mischief endangering life. The penalty for the crime can be up to life in prison.

No one was seriously injured and no tractor-trailers were hit. But police say two cars were heavily damaged, with one cinderblock striking the hood of one vehicle and another piercing the roof of an SUV.

The first incident was reported at around 10 p.m. on Sunday night near Progress Avenue in Toronto. The second incident was reported at around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the Yonge Street overpass in Toronto, resulting in some minor damage to vehicles.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a witness called police to report a situation on an overpass at Warden Avenue.
