New Brunswick Flying J donates $10,000

Pilot Flying J said it is making a $10,000 donation to five local high schools in the Miramichi, New Brunswick area.

โ€ข Blackville School
โ€ข Bonar Law Memorial High School
โ€ข James M. Hill High School
โ€ข Miramichi Valley High School
โ€ข North and South Esk
โ€ข Regional High School

will each receive $2,000 to award college scholarship funding to a deserving high school senior
Pilot Flying J was impressed with Canadian truck driver Terry Smithโ€™s nomination as 2014 Road Warrior and was prompted to pay back to the community. Smith didnโ€™t win the 2014 award instead, Kyle Cones, of Sandia Park, New Mexico; a U.S. army veteran turned professional driver, employed with Pride Transport. Cones will receive a $10,000 cheque from Pilot Flying J.

โ€œAfter getting injured in Afghanistan, Kyle’s choice of career was limited, until he realized that driving a truck was the perfect lifestyle for him. Because of his background, Kyle will do anything for his fellow drivers, friends, family and nation,โ€ Pilot Flying J stated.

Smithโ€™s wife, Roxanne, commented: โ€œAlthough Terry was not named the 2014 Road Warrior, Flying J Canada Inc. was inspired by his leadership in the industry and his desire to give back to his community.โ€

โ€œWe are so happy that Terry is receiving this recognition, but we are even more thrilled about the impact this money will make for some hardworking students in our community,โ€ Smith said.
