National Trucking Week a Success

(Sept. 20, 2012) – National Trucking Week 2012 (Sept. 2-8) was a great success with carriers across Canada getting into the action by hosting appreciation events for their drivers and staff.

As evidence carriers are as enthusiastic as ever about NTW, this year the Canadian Trucking Alliance ‘sold out’ of 8,000 Mark’s Work Wearhouse discount cards in less than 48 hours. The cards, which offer a 10% discount on MWW retail products across Canada, are usually ordered by carriers from their provincial associations and distributed among their truck drivers and staff during National Trucking Week.

Showing his appreciation for Canada’s hard-working truckers, Prime Minister Stephen Harper once again acknowledged the important contributions of the trucking industry toward Canada’s economy and entrepreneurial spirit.

In his own message to the Canadian truckers, CTA President David Bradley penned an inspirational column that reminded truckers that, despite the economic hardships carriers have faced in recent years, the industry’s best days are still ahead.

If you’re a carrier who put on a great employee appreciation event this year or has a fun NTW story to tell, CTA would like to hear from you. Or, if you have an ideas or tips about successful NTW events you’d like to share with the rest of the industry, contact Marco.Beghetto@Cantruck.ca
