It’s Not Wise To Deduct Taxes Then Spend It

The owner of Pennsylvania-based trucking company, Michael Gerstenberg, of A.E. Logistics, is facing multiple federal fraud and tax evasion charges after he reportedly deducted taxes from his staff and took the money for himself,

according to court documents.

Federal prosecutors say instead of sending the withheld tax money from his employee’s paycheques to the IRS, Gerstenberg spent the $732,291 on “extravagant personal expenses.” Including; “a Caribbean vacation and other travel, gambling, jewelry, fine dining, country club dues, nightclubs, and entertainment.”

Gerstenberg is also accused of filing false income tax returns on behalf of his girlfriend in 2012 and 2013 without her knowledge.

The FMCSA currently lists A.E. Logistics’ operating status as ‘not authorized.’
