Two 14-year-old boys were arrested after confessing to eight shootings along U.S. 75 Highway near Tulsa, Okla., the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday evening, Feb. 16.
Seven of the eight shootings, which occurred Sunday night and Monday night, involved tractor-trailers. Six of the vehicles hit were Wal-Mart trucks, while one was a Swift truck and the other was a personal vehicle.
No injuries were reported, and most of the drivers discovered the bullet holes after arriving at their destinations.
The two juveniles were arrested on eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon and eight counts of reckless handling of a firearm. Cpl. Kyle Hess, of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, said the boys were using a .22-caliber rifle.
During the investigation, a man in the area told authorities that his son and a friend had been out the night before hunting. Detectives detained the two juveniles with the cooperation of the parents, and they later confessed to shooting at tractor-trailers both nights.
Hess said it wasn’t clear what their motive was or if they were targeting Wal-Mart tractor-trailers.
