The Mercier Bridge remains closed to Montreal-bound traffic after it was struck by a dump truck which was up, Thursday morning around 5 a.m. according to police.
The box collided with the steel structure over the roadway and came off the truck and remains wedged in the girders above.
The driver was uninjured and police say it’s too early to know if he’ll face charges.
Officials opted to close the bridge as a precaution so it can be inspected for damage.
Northbound drivers are being encouraged to use the Champlain Bridge.
Provincial police are on the scene to coordinate.
