Truckers are the Real Heroes
Many times when we watch movies, we see heroes performing dangerous stunts. These stunts create a heroic impression in our minds. Although the stunts in movies are often not real, they do offer a few hours of entertainment, and earn millions of dollars in revenue.
In relation to movies, I don’t know if people ever realize the heroic and ‘real’ stunts truckers perform on daily basis, and the hardships and difficulties they endure. Most people also do not have a very good impression of truckers; drivers or pedestrians regularly yell at truck drivers. If an accident happens that involves a truck, the first thought in most minds is that it is probably the trucker’s fault. To top it off, the news media is not far behind and generically label truck drivers as drug dealers, even though the reality is much different.
Trucking is a profession, and like doctors, teachers, and engineers, commercial drivers are professionals in their work. They are our real heroes; driving a big vehicle with thousands of pounds of loads through tough road and weather conditions is nothing less than a dangerous stunt. But, they manage to complete their deliveries every time, even by putting themselves in extreme danger. Many accidents happen on our roads, and truckers also lose their lives. They drive through -40 degree temperature so that critical equipment reaches on time, others can have a hot meal on their table, and patients in hospitals can get their medicine on time. Is this not a heroic stunt – to save lives in reality as compared to on-screen? Don’t you think they are our real heroes? These truckers are happy, even if they don’t get millions of dollars and have a big following like movie heroes. We should, and must, at least give them their due respect.

ਅਸਲੀ ਹੀਰੋ, ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ
ਅਸੀਂ ਅਕਸਰ ਹੀ ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ‘ਚ ਹੀਰੋ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ਼ ਵੱਖ਼ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਰਨਾਕ ਸਟੰਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਟੰਟ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੀਰੋਗਿਰੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਦਿਲੋ-ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਛੱਡਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸ਼ਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਸਾਡਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਕੁ ਘੰਟੇ ਮਨੋਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਬਦਲੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਡਾਲ਼ਰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸ਼ਕ ਵੀ।
ਜੇਕਰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਮਾਰੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂਨੂੰ ਨੀ ਲਗਦਾ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦੇ ਔਖ਼ੇ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਤਾਨਾਕ ਸਟੰਟਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ? ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੀਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕਠਿਨਾਈਆਂ ਭਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਆਮ ਲੋਕ ਦੀ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸੋਚ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਵਧੀਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਉਹ ਅਕਸਰ ਹੀ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਡਰਾਇਵਿੰਗ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨੁਕਤਾਚੀਨੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਚਿੱਲਾਂਉਂਦੇ ਦੇਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੇਕਰ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਐਕਸਡਿੈਂਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਟਰੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਸੂਰ ਟਰੱਕ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।ਪਰ ਸਚਾਈ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ‘ਚ ਟਰੱਕ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਸੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਕੱਲਦਾ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਈ ਵੀਰ ਜਾਨ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਕਸਰ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਨੇ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜੋ ਗਾਹੇ-ਬਗਾਹੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਡਰੱਗ ਟਰੈਫਟਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਲੇਬਲ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂਕਿ ਸਚਾਈ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਗਿਣਤੀ ਟਰੱਕਰਜ਼ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਟਰੱਕਿੰਗ ਵੀ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਕਿੱਤਿਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਡਾਕਟਰੀ, ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਣ, ਇੰਜਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਆਦਿ ਦੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਕਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਟਰੱਕਰ ਵੀਰ ਅਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਕਿੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਨਿਪੁੰਨਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਹੂੰਗਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਹੀਰੋ ਹਨ।ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਹੀਕਲ ਜਿਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਪੌਂਡ ਭਾਰ ਲੱਦਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕਾਬੂ ‘ਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਚਲਾਉਣਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਖੇਡ ਨਹੀਂ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਦੋਂ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਮੌਸਮ, ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ, ਬਰਫ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਦੀਆਂ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਹੋਣ, ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੀਰੋਗਿਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਸਲੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਹੀਰੋ -40 ਡਿਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਖ਼ੌਲਾਂ ਕਲੋਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਢੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਰਮ ਗਰਮ ਫ਼ੂਡ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ, ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ‘ਚ ਬੈੱਡ ਤੇ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਨਾਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇ। ਕੀ ਇੱਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੀਰੋ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਹਨ? ਕੀ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਲ ਖ਼ੇਡ ਕੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨਾਂ ਅਸਲੀ ਹੀਰੋਪੁਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।ਭਾਵੇਂ ਫ਼ਿਲ਼ਮੀ ਹੀਰੋਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਡਾਲਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ੈਨ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੇ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਾਣ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੱਕਦਾਰ ਹਨ।
ਸਰਦ ਰੁੱਤ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੜੀ ਹੈ, ਭੈੜਾ ਮੌਸਮ, ਬਰਫ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਤਿਲਕਵੀਂਆਂ ਸੜਕਾਂ, ਧੁੰਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਘੱਟ ਦਿਖ਼ਾਈ ਦੇਣਾ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮੌਸਮ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
