Professional truck driver Ed Baggs stepped up when he saw a woman who needed help, and now his life and hers are forever changed.
Baggs was crossing the Piscataqua River Bridge in Kittery, Maine, Sunday, March 15, 2015, when he saw a woman standing at the edge preparing to jump. Baggs pulled over. โCome on, donโt do this,โ he told her.
two other drivers stopped to help, and they kept the woman talking for as long as they could, but when the woman turned back toward the river, Baggs took action.
โAt the right moment, she turned again, and I just went for it,โ he told WMTW 8 ABC News. โI threw a hug, a bear hug on her that I donโt think a football team could have got me out of it.โ
Thanks to Baggsโ compassion, the woman did not take her life that day.
โIโm so happy that I helped a person live,โ he said.
