Trailer Orders Gain in December

COLUMBUS, IN – The trailer industry saw a 14% month over month gain in net orders in December, as six of the ten trailer categories posted positive results. For 2013, a total of 231,700 orders were booked, down just under 2% from 2012’s result. This was the third consecutive year of annual orders greater than 230,000. This information was included in the most recent State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers published by ACT Research Co. (ACT).

“All trailer categories had single digit cancellation rates, which is a positive for the industry,” said Frank Maly, Director – CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT. “In addition to indicating that existing fleet commitments are solid, low cancellations also simplify material flow and order planning by the original equipment manufacturers,” he added.
