August marks the last full month of summer, but plenty of truck shows are lined up. From Utah to New York, there will be at least one show every week in August.
Carlisle, Pa., kicks off the month’s truck shows with the Carlisle Truck Nationals at the Carlisle Fairgrounds on Aug. 5-7. This show is all about trucks: lowered mini trucks, lifted 4x4s, big rigs, SUVs, classic trucks, etc. Tractor-trailers get their own attraction with the Big Rig Show and Shine competition. More than 2,000 trucks of all types are expected to show. Admission is $12 on Aug. 5-6, $7 on Aug. 7, or $20 for all three days. The following week is jam-packed with shows, starting with the Brockway Truck Show in Cortland, N.Y., slated for Aug. 11-14. Taking place at the Brockway Truck Museum, festivities begin with an “Ice Cream Cruise” on Thursday, Aug. 11. From there, it will be a smorgasbord of activities, including a silent auction, parade, award ceremony, wine/craft beer/cider tasting and more. Go to BrockwayTrucks.org for details.
During that same weekend in Joplin, Mo., the 20th annual Truckers Jamboree will be running Aug. 12-13. Live music, antique trucks, fireworks, show trucks and a/c exhibitor tents will all be a part of this year’s show. Go to Joplin44.com for more information.
Also happening Aug. 12-13 will be the Great Salt Lake Truck Show near, you guessed it, Salt Lake City, Utah. More accurately, Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. Enjoy such attractions as dinner, entertainment, light show, truck show, dunk tank, truck pull and a silent auction. The Great Salt Lake Truck Show is a nonprofit organization that benefits the National Kidney Foundation of Utah and Idaho. The 27th annual Waupun Truck-n-Show at Waupun, Wis., is another show running Aug. 12-13 that is chock-full of events. Showgoers can experience the Lights of the Night convoy parade, live music, Special Olympic parade auction, Make-A-Wish parade auction, motorcycle parade ride and more. Speaking of Make-A-Wish, a truck show benefiting the foundation is scheduled for the following week at the Twin Bridges Tractor Show Grounds on Aug. 20 in Chambersburg, Pa. The Franklin County Truck Convoy and Show will happen rain or shine and includes music, food, vendors, prizes, raffles, kids’ games and more activities. A little to the west that same weekend, the Crossing the Line Benefit and Truck Show will take place Aug. 19-20 at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso, Ind. With the slogan “Where the Blue Line and Dotted Line Come Together,” half of the funds this year will be donated to the families of slain police officers. Just a bit further west from Aug. 19-21 is the Eau Claire Big Rig Truck & Tractor Show at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Clare, Wis. A laundry list of events fills this year’s show on all three days. In addition to the usual truck show, light show, parade, live music, karate demonstration and movie night, former Green Bay Packers safety Leroy Butler will be meeting fans and signing autographs 1-4 p.m. on Aug. 21. Yet another show on the third weekend of August is the 26th annual National Toy Truck ‘N Construction Show slated for Aug. 19-21 at Indianapolis Marriott East in Indianapolis, Ind. A twist on the traditional truck show, a 1/64 scale truck build off competition will be happening on Aug. 20. Other attractions include jet truck races and auctions. The popular Great American Trucking Show at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention centre in Dallas will wrap up August shows on Aug. 25-27. One of the biggest shows of the year, GATS will feature the Market Movers panel discussion, Fit for the Road 5K Charity Run/Walk, 2016 Pride and Polish National Championship Finals, educational seminars and live music performed by Tony Justice and John Michael Montgomery.
