Idle No More Protest Targets Ambassador Bridge Wednesday

Police are warning truck drivers and motorists to expect cross-border traffic congestion and delays on Wednesday Jan. 16, as protestors with the Idle No More movement plan a demonstration at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor.

Windsor Police are urging travellers and motor carriers to monitor traffic conditions in the area that day and consider taking alternate routes.

According to police, organizers are planning to arrive in Windsor the morning of January 16, 2013 via Highway 401.  A protest walk is planned at 11:00 a.m. from the intersection of Huron Church Road and Tecumseh Road West northbound towards the foot of the Ambassador Bridge. Organizers have indicated that protesters will assemble at the at the Ambassador Bridge in the area of College Ave. and then will walk back to Tecumseh Road West.

According to CBC News, the demonstration will include speeches and a drum circle and is expected to last until around 1 pm.
