HOS Exemptions for Ag Commodities Has Been Approved by White House

ย The FMCSAโ€™s potential rulemaking to define which drivers are allowed to run under HOS exemptions for agricultural commodities has been approved by the White Houseโ€™s Office of Management and Budget.

The advanced notice of proposed rulemaking wonโ€™t divulge any specific reforms. Instead, itโ€™s intended for the solicitation of comments from industry stakeholders about the definition of an agricultural commodity.

Currently, the FMCSA defines ag commodities as โ€œany agricultural commodity, nonprocessed food, feed, fiber, or livestock,โ€ but that definition could change if the agency proceeds with the rulemaking process.

Once published in the Federal Register, the ANPRM will be open for public comments.
