GATS 2018 Entertainment and Education

The 2018 edition of the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas will offer a blend of education and entertainment.

GATS will run from Aug. 23-25 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.

“This year, the Great American Trucking Show is bringing more than 500 industry exhibitors to over 500,000 square feet of exhibit space, making GATS a playground for professional truckers,” said Stacy McCants, Randall-Reilly’s vice president of events.

“We truly believe this year’s event will bring value, education and fun to everyone in attendance, from the owner-operator to the fleet executive.”

The first listening session regarding the FMCSA’s advance notice of proposed rulemaking for hours-of-service regulations will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24. Other educational presentations include a discussion on the ELD mandate, legal topics for truck drivers, and the lack of truck parking.

GATS will feature three stages with the America Strong Stage in Hall A, Trucker’s Armor Stage in Hall D, and the Health and Wellness Pavilion Stage. A full schedule of events for each day can be found here.

The health pavilion will provide drivers with free services, including diabetes education, eye screenings, medical consultations, nutrition evaluations and a mammogram bus with financial assistance for those without health insurance. CDL holders in attendance can receive discounted DOT physicals on the floor.

Other activities include the Trucking’s Top Rookie Award presentation, the Trucker Talent Search competition, and the Pride & Polish truck show competition.

Three finalists will compete in the fifth annual Overdrive-Red Eye Radio Trucker Talent Search competition. The winner will receive $1,000 and a recording session.

Red Eye Radio will host several country music artists, including the Bellamy Brothers, in the convention center’s lobby.

The Bellamy Brothers, who hold the record for most duo nominations from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association, are slated to sign autographs and take photos at the show.

There is no cost to attend GATS if you register online. It will cost $10 if you wait to register at the show.
