Diesel prices nationwide still moving upward

The average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel had an increase of 3.7 cents from last week to $2.165 per gallon for the week ending Monday, April 18. This marks the second consecutive weekly increase after a short-lived one-week decrease.

Diesel price averages went up in all 10 regions in the U.S., according to the Energy Information Administration. The largest average increase was in the Gulf Coast region, where prices at the pump rose by 5.4 cents per gallon. Prices were up 2.4 cents in the Central Atlantic region, the smallest increase in the nation.

Following are the average prices by region as reported by the EIA:

U.S. – $2.125, up 3.7 cents
East Coast – $2.22, up 3.3 cents
New England – $2.287, up 5 cents
Central Atlantic – $2.325, up 2.4 cents
Lower Atlantic – $2.126, up 3.6 cents
Midwest – $2.112, up 3 cents
Gulf Coast – $2.046, up 5.4 cents
Rocky Mountain – $2.171, up 2.9 cents
West Coast – $2.371, up 3.9 cents
West Coast less California – $2.251, up 5.1 cents
California – $2.466, up 2.9 cents
