The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel across the U.S. hovers just above the $3 per gallon mark, according to the weekly report issued for Monday, June 17, by the Energy Information Administration.
While the EIA report shows an average price of $3.07 per gallon, another index produced by ProMiles.com shows the price dipping below the $3 per gallon threshold.
Weekly price reports from the EIA show the average price for the U.S. falling each week since May 13, when the price was $3.16. This is the fourth consecutive week of declining average price for the U.S.
The biggest decreases were in California (5.2 cents), West Coast region (4.9 cents) and the Midwest (4.5 cents).
The average price per gallon in the Lower Atlantic, Gulf Coast and Midwest regions is below $3.
