Average diesel prices continue to rise, nearly reaching one-year high

The average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel went up 3.6 cents to $2.481 per gallon for the week ending Monday, Oct. 17. This marks the third consecutive increase after four consecutive weeks of decreases and the highest prices since Nov. 16, 2015 when diesel was $2.482.

Diesel price averages went up in all 10 regions in the U.S., according to the Energy Information Administration. The largest average increase was in the West Coast less California region, where prices at the pump went up by 4.4 cents per gallon. Prices were up 1.9 cents in the California region, the smallest increase in the nation.

East Coast – $2.472, up 3.1 cents
New England – $2.477, up 2.4 cents
Central Atlantic – $2.579, up 3.9 cents
Lower Atlantic – $2.389, up 2.6 cents
Midwest – $2.458, up 4.1 cents
Gulf Coast – $2.357, up 4 cents
Rocky Mountain – $2.546, up 3.8 cents
West Coast – $2.742, up 3 cents
West Coast less California – $2.635, up 4.4 cents
California – $2.828, up 1.9 cents
