Grocery giant, Albertson’s announced it will be adding 10 electric Tesla trucks to its fleets under the Albertson’s, Vons, and Pavilions names. Speculation suggests that Albertson’s purchased both the base model (range of 300 miles) and the extended range model (500 miles) which vary in price from $150,000 to $180,000.
This purchase is part of Albertson’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to running a sustainable and safe fleet throughout the country. The organization is also a partner and supporter if the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Program and its fleet of 1,400 trucks are SmartWay certified.
Tom Nartker, VP of Transportation at Albertson’s said, “Advancing supply chain efficiency and sustainability is an important goal for our company. We’re excited to pilot this expansion of our transportation program with trucks that help us limit our overall carbon footprint.”
