Alberta to Speed Up Hwy 63 Twinning Project

Alberta Premier Alison Redford announced that she will look at fast-tracking upgrades to Highway 63 between Edmonton and Fort McMurray.

The announcement comes after a rash of crashes on the highway, including a serious collision last week.

Redford said she will instruct her next transportation minister to accelerate plans to twin the highway, according to CBC.

The current plan is to twin at least 50 percent of the highway within three years.

“We need to act faster on that and I will be asking our transportation minister after cabinet is sworn in to make that a priority.”
