It seems like the Covid-19 pandemic is already starting to affect some events in 2021, regardless of positive outlooks from makers of vaccines.
Just recently, it was announced that the 2021 Great American Trucking Show has been cancelled due to the uncertainty of the pandemic.
Organizers of the show said in a press release: “Planning begins at least 12 months in advance. Yet as we head into the fourth quarter of 2020, we are no more certain about the potential to hold a successful, large-scale in-person event than we were when we canceled the 2020 show.”
Rather than an in-person truck show, GATS organizers have said that there will still be virtual events, with awards, recognitions, etc.
Although there was some hope and an optimistic attitude towards 2021 shows, this may just be the start of cancellation of many events; but we hope not.
As of yet, no shows in Canada have announced their cancellation. Let’s hope that 2021 isn’t a repeat of 2020.
