On April 26, Estes Express Lines submitted a $15 million bid to purchase two affiliates of the bankrupt LTL carrier, New England Motor Freight (NEMF)—Eastern Freight Ways Inc. and Carrier Industries Inc.
A Chapter 11 NEMF hearing is scheduled for May 16 to approve the winning bid. If the bid is successful, Estes said the equipment would help improve its flatbed and dedicated transport segments.
New England Motor Freight had nearly 1,300 trucks and nearly 1,500 drivers before its bankruptcy filing.
