Great Dane Trailers is recalling certain reefer trailers for an axle issue that has resulted in recalls for two other trailer companies, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.
Affected models include 2015-2016 Great Dane reefers equipped with Meritor EX225L2, EX225L+ or Bendix ADB22X axles. The affected axle assemblies have caliper bolts that may not have been properly tightened, allowing the caliper mounting bolts to back out and the caliper to detach from the axle flange.
On Dec. 18, Land Line reported on a Wabash trailer recall for the same Meritor and Bendix axel defect. Four days later, VT Hackney issued a recall for its Kidron refrigerated trailers for the same issue.
Owners of affected trailers will be notified by Great Dane. Caliper bolts will be inspected and tightened as needed, free of charge. For more questions about the recall, contact Great Dane at 912-232-4471 or Meritor at 866-668-7221
