A Utah man has been convicted and sentenced for attempting to bribe a CDL tester, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General.
Robert Laudemann of West Jordan, Utah, pleaded guilty on Aug. 24 on charges of attempting to bribe a public servant. In February 2015, Laudemann offered a bribe to a third-party tester for an over-the-road CDL, according to the OIG press release. The Utah Driver License Division notified DOT-OIG and the Utah Department of Public Safety.
Laudemann offered the CDL tester $1,000. The tester assumed the money offer was for a passing score on the CDL road test.
Laudemann was sentenced to one-year imprisonment, plus one year of probation, and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. The one-year prison sentence was suspended. Laudemann was charged with bribery in June.
