CTV news disclosed that, one of Saskatoon’s largest employers is being sold to an American company.
The Yanke Group, a trucking company, has been bought by the Celadon Group, based in Indianapolis.
The deal is expected to make Celadon one of the largest carriers in Canada, with more than 800 drivers in their Canadian fleet.
Yanke’s CEO says almost all of the company’s drivers will be offered jobs with the new owner, but that the Saskatoon office will close, resulting in layoffs.
Yanke generated about $90 million in revenue last year, making it a major player in Saskatoon’s job market.
