With winter fast approaching, the safety of truck drivers becomes paramount.Each year there are numerous injuries and fatalities.Though all of them can’t be prevented, drivers may want to plan for the future and look in to prevention.
When leasing a truck or trailer, insurance can be added to the deal.We offer life, disability, and loss of employment insurance.You can choose one or all three.We hope you don’t need it, but just in case, insurance can cover payments, and aid your family just in case something unexpected happens.However, prevention is the first step.
When purchasing a truck, safety for the drivers comes first for me.Personally I don’t really care what colour truck you want, if you want a chrome package, or a fancy skull on the hood.I want to make sure you come home after each trip.
I like options in a truck like LED lights.If you can see better, and can be seen better, I’m all for it!I encourage drivers to add this option.LED’s only came out recently on some of the new models of trucks.Traction control is coming out in a lot of new automatic trucks.The ABS will kick in if the truck is slipping and backs fuel off the tires to help guide the truck straight.This is an an option available in manual transmissions too. There are roll over features to maintain stability. Bigger brake lines are out on 2011 and newer trucks which stop the truck in a shorter distance.So consider that older truck can’t stop as fast if purchasing used.On trailers ABS has been standard since the late 1990’s and Canada pioneered this before the USA.Not all these options are standard, but I encourage drivers to add them.I ask the dealerships to add all the safety features available to my driver’s trucks.The dealerships don’t meet the driver’s families and kids like I do, so I want to look out for the whole household.If it’s a safety option, add it!Don’t look at the cost as it can be covered by financing.Lives aren’t measured in dollars and cents.
I often have drivers asking why I do so much for them.I meet them at their yards, at their homes, and in their trucks to sign a deal and try to make sure they never miss work.I meet them in the evenings and weekends and keep them on the road without missing a load, all while having tea with them and the whole family.The reason I do so much is because about a year and a half ago I knew a driver who was killed in Calgary.I spoke to him just a few minutes before it happened.One minute he was talking to me on the phone and faxing me paperwork, and a few minutes later he was dead on the street with a white sheet covering him.Under that white sheet was my friend.He had a wife and two kids, and two brothers who are also drivers.He drank coffee instead of tea.He was a good person and he died a hero.He saved another driver’s life who was with him, and died in the process.I answered the phone when his family realized what happened and dealt with his daughter shrieking “What happened to my dad?Where is my dad?” That’s why I do so much.He worked hard and died.
I was asked at my work what would happen if one day we had to repossess some of the trucks or trailers I have financed.My reply was simple.All of my clients are great.They have great credit, and if something had gone wrong with their credit in the past, they told me the truth up front and were very honest.They are all trusted and no one has missed payments so far.I don’t think we will repossess on any of my clients, but one day one of them won’t make it home alive and the equipment will be written off.I don’t want to see that day.All of my drivers have become my good friends so keep being my friend and stay safe.
Every truck driver out there risks his or her life every single day to bring you all the goods you’re used to having.Look around your house.That furniture was brought in on a truck. Those apples, that carpet, the counter tops, the appliances, the clothes, cosmetics, your television, were all on a truck.Everything in your home was brought in on a truck and so was everything in your favorite grocery store, restaurant, and shopping mall.So thank you to all the drivers who risk their lives every day so we can have all the things we need.Keep that in mind when you tail gate a truck driver or cut them off.Remember that when you get frustrated that they move slower than a car.They move slower because they carry a lot more weight which makes it a lot more dangerous.Have respect for what they do and thank them.Don’t honk and swear at them, wave a friendly thank you as you pass them safely and legally.They do it for all of us and to feed their families.Drive safe!

ਜਦ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਟਰੱਕ ਜਾਂ ਟਰੇਲਰ ਲੀਜ਼ ਤੇ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਡੀਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਮਾ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ, ਅਯੋਗਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਬਾਰੇ ਬੀਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਂ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ।ਸਾਡੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਾ ਪਵੇ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਲਟ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਬਚਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਅ ਹੈ।
ਟਰੱਕ ਖਰੀਦਣ ਸਮੇਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਰਾਥਮਿਕਤਾ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਦੀ ਸਰੱਖਿਅਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਰੰਗ ਦਾ ਟਰੱਕ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਪਰ ਮਂੈ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁੱਖੀ-ਸਾਂਦੀ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤੋ।
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੈੱਡ (ਲ਼ਓਧ) ਲਾਈਟਸ ਵਾਲਾ ਟਰੱਕ ਸੱਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਸੰਦ ਹੈ।ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਕੋ ਇੱਛਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਦੇਖ ਸਕੋ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆ ਲਾਈਟਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਟਰੱਕਾ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਮਾਡਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਲਾਈਟਸ (ਲ਼ਓਧ) ਹੁਣ ਆੳੇੁਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਨਵੇਂ ਆਟੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਟਰੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਆ ਗਏ ਹਨ।ਜੇਕਰ ਟਰੱਕ ਸਲਿੱਪ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਅਭਸ਼ ਟਰੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਇਹ ਆਪਸ਼ਨ ਹੱਥ ਰਾਹੀ ਟਰਾਂਸਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਉਪਲੱਭਧ ਹੈ। ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਫੀਚਰਜ਼ ਹਨ।ਟਰੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਥੋਹੜੇ ਫਾਸਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ 2011 ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਰੇਕਾਂ ਹਨ।ਲੇਟ 1990 ਤੋਂ ਟਰੇਲਰਜ਼ ਤੇ ਅਭਸ਼ ਦੇ ਮਾਪ ਦੰਡ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਤ ਹਨ।ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਪਸ਼ਨਜ਼ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਟੈਡਰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਮੈਂ ਡੀਲਰਸ਼ਿਪਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਫਟੀ ਫੀਚਰਜ਼ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ।ਡੀਲਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਭ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਜੇਕਰ ਆਪਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਸਬੰਧ ਸੇਫ਼ਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਉਪਲੱਬਧ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਮਤ ਵੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।ਜਿੰਦਗੀਆਂ ਡਾਲਰਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਸੈਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਣੀਆ ਜਾਂ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।
ਅਕਸਰ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਐਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਰਡਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ, ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਹਲੇ ਨਾ ਰਹਿਣ।ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ, ਵੀਕਐਂਡ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਹ ਦਾ ਕੱਪ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ੳਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਡ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਰਹੇ।ਐਨਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਡੇਢ ਕੁ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਐਸੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਕੈਲਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ।ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਿੰਟ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।ਇੱਕ ਮਿੰਟ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਫੋਨ ਤੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੇਪਰ ਵਰਕ ਫੈਕਸ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਮਿੰਟ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਚਿੱਟੀ ਚਾਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।ਚਿੱਟੀ ਚਾਦਰ ਥੱਲੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸੀ।ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਬੱਚੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਭਰਾ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਵੀ ਹਨ।ਉਹ ਚਾਹ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਕਾਫੀ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਸੀ।ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੀਰੋ ਦੀ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ।ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲਦੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਗਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।
ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫਾਇਨੈਂਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਟਰੱਕ ਜਾਂ ਟਰੇਲਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰੀਪੋਜ਼ੈਸ ਕਰਨੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।ਮੇਰਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਸਧਾਰਣ ਸੀ।ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲਾਇੰਟਸ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰੈਡਿਟ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਬੀਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰੈਡਿਟਸ ਮਾੜੇ ਵੀ ਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ੳਹਨਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਝਿਜਕ ਸਚਾਈ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ।ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸਯੋਗ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਪੇਮੈਂਟ ਮਿੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੁੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਲਾਇੰਟ ਦਾ ਟਰੱਕ-ਟਰੇਲਰ ਰੀਪੋਜ਼ੈਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।ਜੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਕੋਈ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਘਰ ਜਿਊਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਮੁੜ ਸਕਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਇਕਵਿਪਮੈਂਟ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਦਿਨ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ।ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੋ ਤੇ ਸੇਫ਼ ਰਹੋ।
ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਲੋੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਣ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਹਰ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਜੋਖਮ ਉਠਾਉਦਾ ਹੈ।ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਝਾਤੀ ਮਾਰੋ।ਇਹ ਫਰਨੀਚਰ ਟਰੱਕ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਐਪਲ, ਕਾਰਪੈਟ, ਕਾਉਟਰ ਟਾਪਸ, ਬਰਤਨ, ਕੱਪੜੇ, ਟੈਲੀਵਿਜਨ ਆਦਿ ਸੱਭ ਟਰੱਕ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ।ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਘਰ, ਗਰਾਸਰੀ ਸਟੋਰ, ਰੈਸਤੋਰਾਂ, ਸ਼ਾਪਿੰਗ ਮਾਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਭ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਟਰੱਕ ਤੇ ਆਇਆਂ ਸਨ।ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੱਭ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਜੋਖਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੀਆ ਨਿੱਤ ਦਿਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਟਰੱਕ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਵੋ ਜਾਂ ਕਰਾਸ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਹੌਲੀ ਚੱਲਣ ਤੇ ਕੋਸ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਵੋ ਤਾਂ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚੋ।ਉਹ ਹੌਲੀ ਜਾਂ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿੳੇੁਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਚੱਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਰੇ ਭਰਿਆ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰੋ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਾਰਨ ਨਾ ਵਜਾਉ ਜਾਂ ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਬੋਲੋ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਾਂਗੋ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਮਿੱਤਰਤਾ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੱਥ ਹਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰੋ।ਉਹ ਸੱਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਢਿੱਡ ਭਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਗੱਡੀ ਚਲਾਉ।
