FMCSA Shows New HOS Logbook Examples Online

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration posted on its website a document illustrating 20 logbook examples under its new hours of service rules published in December.

Although most of the provisions in the new HOS rules — such as changes the 34-hour restart — are scheduled to take effect in July 2013, a handful of technical changes such as new definitions of “off-duty time” and “egregious violations” took effect this week.

The illustrated examples compare compliant logbooks with logbook with violations under the new rules.

For different reasons the new rules are currently being challenged in court by the American Trucking Associations and a coalition of political interest and advocacy groups.
