Celadon Closes NC Terminal
Celadon Trucking announced that it will be closing down a terminal in Nash County, North Carolina and laying off 127 employees.
The job cuts will mainly affect truck drivers and warehouse workers.
This announcement comes after last week’s news of reported financial irregularities and a $12 million quarterly loss and the resignation of Chief Operating Officer Eric Meek.
In a notice filed with the state, corporate attorney Dennis Elschide wrote “Celadon will cease operations at the facility on June 30, 2017.” Employees were to be issued 60-day separation notices by May 1, he included.
In spite of the recent news, Celadon stock was up 30% on Monday.
