Average diesel prices reach lowest prices since March

The average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel went down 2.1 cents to $2.544 per gallon for the week ending Monday, May 15. This marks the fourth consecutive decrease after three straight weeks of increases and lowest prices since March 27 when diesel was $2.532.

Diesel price averages went down in all 10 regions in the U.S., according to the Energy Information Administration, enough to drop the overall average. The largest average decrease was in the Gulf Coast region, where prices at the pump went down by 2.8 cents per gallon. Prices decreased by 1.6 cents in the New England and Central Atlantic regions, the smallest decrease in the nation.

Following are the average prices by region as reported by the EIA:
• U.S. – $2.544, down 2.1 cents
• East Coast – $2.595, down 1.7 cents
• New England – $2.626, down 1.6 cents
• Central Atlantic – $2.737,  down 1.6 cents
• Lower Atlantic – $2.488, down 1.9 cents
• Midwest – $2.479, down 1.8 cents
• Gulf Coast – $2.382, down 2.8 cents
• Rocky Mountain – $2.626, down 2.5 cents
• West Coast – $2.824, down 2.2 cents
• West Coast less California – $2.728, down 1.9 cents
• California – $2.902, down 2.5 cents
