Average diesel prices decrease again

The average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel went down six-tenths of a cent to $2.31 for the week ending Monday, Aug. 15. This marks the eighth decrease in nine weeks. The national average is the lowest since May 16 when prices were $2.297 per gallon.

Diesel price averages decreased in all 10 regions of the United States, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Following are the average prices by region as reported by the EIA:

U.S. – $2.31, down six-tenths of a cent
East Coast – $2.314, down seven-tenths of a cent
New England – $2.368, down 1 cent
Central Atlantic – $2.406, down six-tenths of a cent
Lower Atlantic – $2.233, down eight-tenths of a cent
Midwest – $2.273, down two-tenths of a cent
Gulf Coast – $2.179, down five-tenths of a cent
Rocky Mountain – $2.394, down two-tenths of a cent
West Coast – $2.583, down 1.2 cents
West Coast less California – $2.441, down 1.3 cents
California – $2.696, down 1.1 cents
