Atlantic Truck Show Increases Attendance

The Atlantic Truck Show experienced record numbers this weekend. Representatives of the show announced 12,660 attendees June 5 and 6 at the show held at the Moncton Coliseum.

Organizers of the show said attendance has been on a steady rise over the years, but this year marked the show’s largest attendance ever.

“Friday was all business, with qualified buyers walking the show floor and exhibitors reporting strong sales activity,” said national show manager Mark Cusack. “On Saturday, the aisles and outdoor exhibits were jam-packed, with people networking, buying and selling, checking out the big rigs, and getting up close and personal with a real life Hollywood celebrity – the Western Star Optimus Prime Truck, sponsored by the Maritime Western Star Dealers – a real crowd pleaser!”

This year also marked the the first biennial Innovative Product Awards, that recognizes innovative products in the trucking industry. Parts for Trucks was the winner for its product Maxwell Engine Start Module with Mitchell 1 and Easy-Kleen as the runners-up.

As in years’ past, Friday night saw the the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association’s lobster dinner and charity silent auction. With more than 500 people in attendance, the event raised more than $16,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The biennial Show & Shine also raised money during the event. To vote for their favourite truck, visitors had to made a donation to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

The 2015 Show & Shine winner was Mario Gallant, a company driver with Atlantic Pacific Transport.
