Are you carrying a printer in your truck? Maybe you should.
FMCSA has issued “Updated Procedures” for dealing with electronic logging. Essentially, it’s not finished until the paperwork is done.
To Wit:
Devices Installed with Logging Software and Application with Electronic Signature.
1. If the driver cannot print the current day’s record of duty status (RODS) cite 49 CFR Sub Section 395.8(f)(1)
2. If the driver cannot print the current day and the previous 7 days RODS cite 49 CFR Sub Section 395.8(a)
NOTE: The driver should be cited and placed out of service in accordance with CVSA.
So much for making technology the answer when it’s just another impediment. Now, you must carry a printer, just in case.
