(Jan. 14, 2014) — The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) and Trucks For Change Network (T4C), are joining forces to help support charities in Atlantic Canada and across Canada with trucking services.
Members of Trucks For Change Network, founded in Ontario in 2011, are among the countryโs leading highway carriers, with the motto โFilling Trucks, Fulfilling Needsโ.
T4C employs a unique online charity load-posting tool which allows member carriers to find charity requests which match their available truck capacity, and to respond with offers of reduced-rate or donated service.
T4Cโs membership already includes several APTA members including Midland Transport Limited, Day & Ross Transportation Group, Eassons Transport Limited, Armour Transportation Systems, and Shoreland Transport. The new partnership is designed to encourage more APTA members to join the network to assist local affiliates of national charities such as Food Banks Canada, Habitat For Humanity Canada, and others.
โAPTA members have always actively supported charities.ย Our job is to make the process more efficient by finding the right carrier with the right equipment in the right place to help, said T4C President and founder Pete Dalmazzi. โFinding affordable transportation often makes the difference between a charity accepting donated goods or having them end up in landfill sites, so thereโs an environmental benefit as well.โ
APTAโs Executive Director Jean-Marc Picard added: โT4Cโs mission is consistent with APTAโs goal of promoting an environmentally and socially responsible commercial trucking industry in Atlantic Canada.ย We are happy to endorse its efforts, and we encourage our members to participate.โ
