APTA Driving Championship Results

The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association’s Professional Driving Championships held May 30th displayed nothing but excellence.

A total of 49 drivers competed for a chance to become part of Team Atlantic who will be competing in the National Driving Championships in September in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The APTA congratulates the following winners:

Straight Truck

1st place – Roy Mattinson, Roy B. Mattinson & Sons Trucking
2nd place – James L. Chambers, Armour Transportation Systems
3rd place – Art Burns, Connors Transfer Ltd.
Professionalism – Art Burns, Connors Transfer Ltd.

Single Tandem
1st place – Steve MacPhee, Day & Ross Transportation Group
2nd place – Herb Peters, Day & Ross Transportation Group
3rd place – John Chambers, Armour Transportation Systems
Professionalism – Herb Peters, Day & Ross Transportation Group

Tandem Tandem
1st place – Norman Gallant, Armour Transportation Systems
2nd place – Jean-Marc Detraz, Keltic Transportation Inc.
3rd place – Ken Swinamer, Connors Transfer Ltd.

B-Train
1st place – Rob Stevens, Home Hardware Stores Limited
2nd place – Bill Morrison, Sunbury Transport Limited
3rd place – Allison Godreau, Day & Ross Transportation Group
Professionalism – Bryan Higgins, Day & Ross Transportation Group

Midland Transport walked away with the team award, while Peter O’Connell of Home Hardware was named Rookie of the Year.

The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association represents more than 200 commercial carriers, brokers and owner/operators. It is the voice of the road transport industry in Atlantic Canada.
