Notwithstanding the myriad of construction projects sprucing up the City for the 2017 Canada Day Celebrations — Canada’s 150th, there are some major road closures that may have some serious affects on traffic.
A couple of weeks ago there was a major sink hole developed that pretty much crippled the core of the city, very close to where the Parliament Building are located. Today, the Three Amigos Summit has many of the streets around Parliament, The US Embassy and The Lester B. Pearson Building, The Prime Minister’s Residence and The Governor General’s Residence are under heavy security and closed to traffic.
Mayor Watson says the street closures will continue through the long Canada Day weekend because they’re closed anyway and it would make celebrations traffic free.
Yes, trucks still can navigate from Gatineau to the 417 via the normal routes where truckers can still expect to interact with many pedestrians who create situations that simply shouldn’t happen.
